Configuring an Agent
Every agent has its own Configure page. It’s where you set up channels, personality, knowledge, skills, and behavior. Get there by clicking the gear icon on an agent’s card on the Dashboard, or by clicking the agent’s name.
The tab bar
Section titled “The tab bar”Configuration is organized into tabs across the top of the page. Depending on your plan and setup, you’ll see most or all of these:
- Channels — connect Slack, Teams, WhatsApp, Telegram, Lark, the Messaging API, and Web Embed.
- Persona & Rules — who the agent is, how it talks, and the hard rules it must always follow.
- Knowledge — FAQs, data sheets, and imported content the agent can answer from.
- Tools — turn individual capabilities on or off, like web search or code execution.
- Skills — built-in and connected capabilities, from research to Odoo to your own MCP connections.
- Follow Ups — automatic follow-up messages after silence or a condition.
- Calendar — booking, blocked time, holidays, and calendar sync (only shown if your plan includes it).
- Permissions — memory sharing and when the agent replies in group chats.
- Settings — timezone, language, and a few behavior toggles, plus deleting the agent.
Not every agent needs every tab configured. A customer-facing business agent, sales, support, booking, tends to use most of the page: Channels, Persona, Knowledge, Skills, and often Calendar. A personal or team-internal assistant usually gets by on far less: a channel or two, a lighter persona, and whichever Tools actually save time (reminders, code execution), with Knowledge and Calendar left off entirely if there’s no FAQ library or booking flow to support. Each tab page in this section calls out that difference specifically, so skim ahead to whichever one matches what you’re building.
How saving works
Section titled “How saving works”Each tab saves independently. Make a change and an amber “Unsaved changes” indicator appears, along with an active Save Configuration button. Both live at the bottom of the page, plus there’s a floating copy that follows you down as you scroll.
A few things save immediately instead of waiting for the Save button: linking an API key to a skill, for instance, or adding or removing a FAQ in the Knowledge tab. These still register as “activity” via the unsaved-changes indicator, so you get visual confirmation, but there’s nothing to lose by navigating away right after.
